Founder at Media Kurakani

Media Kurakani is my personal initiative, started as a blog in 2012, to tell the stories of media and the craft of journalism in Nepal. It covers history, trends and future of media industry and aims to promote media literacy.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Meetings with editorial team to discuss the issues and ideas for news stories
  • Coordinate with the departments in newsroom including reporting, desk, photography and multimedia.
  • Researching, Reporting, Writing, Editing and Publishing the news stories and features in news paper, news portal and social media

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop resources to help media professionals to better cover the tragedy and the recovery process
  • Curate and archive news and opinion content primarily related with media’s role and performance regarding the disaster
  • Assist to create original content on selected topics and areas of media and disaster reporting

  • Develop story ideas and receive assignments from editor
  • Develop credible sources and maintain relationships with them
  • Gather information and provide complete and accurate information for the news stories

  • Collect and analyze facts about newsworthy events/ issues by interview, investigation or observation.
  • Translate News/ reports/ programs English to Nepali and vice-versa
  • Edit newsworthy photos for online portal and write crispy captions for them.

  • To carry out in-depth research for radio news and reports and write program scripts
  • To produce live and pre-recorded radio news and current affair program and present bulletins
